Richard (Dick) Johnson

Richard Brent Johnson was born on April 12, 1937, in Minneota to Henry and Bertha (Haugen) Johnson.· He grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School in 1955.· Dick then attended Minnesota State at Mankato.· On May 31, 1957, he was united in marriage to Lorna Severson.· To this union were born three children; Jill Kristin, Gina Muriel and Jorun Roberta.· Dick worked for the Minneota Elevator until 1982, except for a short time when he managed the elevator in Goodhue.· He then worked for the Ghent elevator until 1993.· In his retirement, he worked as a floor cashier at Firefly Creek Casino.· Dick enjoyed playing cards at the Roundup, fishing, and going for rides in the country.· He was an avid sports fan.· For 45 years, he was the career point record holder for the Minneota High School Basketball team. Dick died on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.· He is survived by his daughters, Jill Johnson of Chandler, AZ and Jorun and Al) Ahmann of Minneota, grandchildren Hayley and Alex Christensen, brother Roland Johnson of St. Paul, sister-in-law Marcia (Drown) Johnson of Minneota, niece Karen Johnson of Marshall, nephew Dale Johnson of Minneota and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.· He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Gina and brother Robert “Bob”.
