Dick Ladwig, age 91, died June 30, 2024. He was born January 16, 1933 at home in Clifton township, Lyon County to loving parents Herbert and Norma Knutson Ladwig. He attended country school, graduated from Marshall High School, and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota. In 1954, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After military service, Dick began a long professional sales career, dedicating 30 years to the Lindsay Bros Co Ag Equipment; and the next 25 years to J&D Construction, where his tenure kept him on the road often. He retired in 2018.
Dick married Dodie Conner in 1967, and they lived on the Ladwig family farm in Clifton Township while raising their daughters Jean Ladwig and Tracie Askegaard, and son K. Joseph (Joe) Ladwig. Dick relished life on the farm, enjoyed dancing, golf and bridge, and was an ardent fan of all Minnesota sports teams. He and Dodie also enjoyed life on Green Lake and Georgetown, TX.
Dick is survived by wife Dodie, loving daughters Jean of Georgetown, TX and Tracie (Mark) of Hollister, MO; sister Jeanne Wurst of Edina, MN; many nieces and nephews; and his devoted dog Ole. He was preceded in death by his son Joe Ladwig, sister Syliva Farr, and parents Herbert and Norma Ladwig.
A visitation service will be held at 1pm, and funeral service at 2pm on Monday, July 15th, 2024 at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall, MN. Private family interment at Marshall Cemetery.
