Dick was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Trinidad during World War II as a radar operator. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Minneapolis for a time, then to Minneota. Dick began what would become a 40 year career as parts manager for Geiwitz & Company. On August 22, 1950, Dick was united in marriage to Evelyn Pesek at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. After Geiwitz & Co. closed, he went to work for D & M Implement in Marshall where he worked until his retirement in 1987. Dick was very active at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota and served the church in many capacities. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and later grew to love golfing.
