Rita Florance (Paradis) Versaevel was born on December 1, 1921, in Rural Marshall, to Henry and Theresa (Hirmer) Paradis. She grew up on a farm south of Marshall. On June 11, 1946, she was united in marriage to Frank Versaevel. Rita worked for Sward-Kemp Pharmacy for a time. She worked for Holy Redeemer Catholic School as a cook for 32 years. After retiring, she substituted as a cook for the public school and Holy Redeemer. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Auxiliary, and volunteered on the wedding and funeral committees for Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She also made pies for the church stand at the fair.
Rita died on Friday, December 05, 2014, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. She is survived by her daughter Beverly of Marshall, son Dan of Marshall, granddaughter Brenda (and Mike) Chisholm of Gary, MN, grandson Benjamin (and Holly) Elsen of Balaton, great-grandchildren Carolyn, Tucker, Owen, Brooklyn, Madelyn, Savannah, Morgan and Alex. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, parents and four brothers.
