Robert Joseph Almich was born on September 28, 1937, in Shakopee Minnesota, to Frank âBudâ and Lorraine (Martin) Almich; their first born. As a child he moved with his family to Marshall where he attended school and graduated from Central Catholic High School. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy and returned to southwest Minnesota after his discharge. Bob was working for Terstegs grocery store in Redwood Falls where he met his love Audrey. The couple was united in marriage on August 16, 1959. They lived in Granite Falls and Canby finally residing in Marshall. To this union were born Tim, Paul and Diana.
Bob worked for the family grocery business (Supervalu) in Marshall with his father; later he partnered for the business and continued for over 50 years; his biggest accomplishment upgrading to the County Market grocery store which he owned with his youngest brother.
Bob had many hobbies and interests. His passion for the outdoors, camping, motorcycle trips, hunting and fishing was always a favorite with family and friends. It was bonding time with his wife and kids whether all together or one on one. The move to Hill Street was a blessing after Audreyâs death; it gave him opportunities to play cards, bingo, read westerns, weekly visits with his mother and many new and old friendships. He is a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Redwood River Sportsmanâs Club.
Robert died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 3, 2018, while visiting family in Eden Prairie.
