Robert Bruce Anderson was born November 2, 1923, in Duluth to Donald and Vera (Wallinder) Anderson. He grew up and attended school in Duluth. After graduation he enlisted in the US Coast Guard. Robert served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. On June 3, 1951, he was united in marriage to Blanche Petz in Shell Lake, WI. Robert worked as an insurance inspector in several communities including Cloquet, Superior, WI, Green Bay, WI, Saginaw, MI, Rochester and Sioux Falls, SD. In 1979, he took a job as a Code Inspector for the state of Minnesota and moved to Marshall.
Robert enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a faithful member to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the Elks Club. Robert died on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche, currently of Minneota, son Donald (and Delilah) of Sioux Falls, SD, daughters Barbara (and Frank) Dooley of Kansas City, MO and Linda (and Patrick) Davis of Colorado Springs, CO, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Bell Tower Fund.
