A celebration of the life of Robert âBobâ Fedde, will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the family farm northeast of Balaton. A private family committal service will take place at a different time.
Robert Glen âBobâ Fedde was born on August 31, 1954, in Tracy, MN, to Lawrence and Irma (Van Winkle) Fedde. He grew up on the family century farm northeast of Balaton. He graduated from Balaton High School in 1972. He occasionally reminded his family that he was voted senior athlete of the year and for a time held the basketball assist record. Bob enlisted and served in the U.S. Army as part of the 101st Airborn Division. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Balaton. He married Deborah Wixon and to this union were born children Kim, Mike and Billy. In addition to farming, Bob held many side jobs including Wee Janitorial, Pork Transitions near Garvin and raising hogs with Bill Nelson and farming with his friend Dale Sherman. He really enjoyed sports and played first base for many local softball teams. He also enjoyed hunting with Hondo and fishing with his grandchildren. Many of his favorite times were spent at âthe pondâ on his family farm including some oyster feeds and other events. Bob enjoyed socializing over a beer, playing video games, pull tabs or the occasional trip to a casino, playing bingo with his friends and criticizing Minnesota sports. He was a member of the Balaton Post of the U.S. American Legion.
Bob died on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, MN, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He is survived by his children Kimberly (and Les) Marczak of Cottonwood, Mike (and Jennifer Kaup) of Balaton, Billy (and Kim) of Balaton, eight grandchildren: Shailey, Colby, Kiegan, Breckin, Tyden, Tovah, Tenlie and Ellie, siblings Larry (and Kathy) Fedde of Amiret, Tom Fedde of Milroy, Peggy (and Bryan) Huwe of Redwood Falls, John (and Sandy) Fedde of Arapahoe, NE, Aunt Hazel Leversedge of Tucson, AZ, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jimmy.
