Robert Charles Stellmach was born December 31, 1927 to Charles and Mary (Shikoski) Stellmach on the family farm near Ivanhoe, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended country school as a child. He then attended Ivanhoe Public Schools, graduating from Ivanhoe High School in 1945. In 1946, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served as part of the Occupational Forces in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1947 and returned to Southwestern Minnesota.
On August 13, 1949 Bob married LaVone Parker in Madison, MN, and they made their home in Marshall, MN. He worked for the PCA in Marshall for several years. He then owned and operated the Mediterranean Club in Tracy, MN for many years. After selling the Med Club, Bob opened the âCheersâ Bar in Raymond, MN. After his wifeâs death in 2004, Bob moved to Starbuck, MN in 2005 and remained living there until his death.
Bob was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall and was also a member of the V.F.W. and the U.S. American Legion Post 113 of Marshall, serving as Past Commander and other positions. He enjoyed a good laugh, had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with family and friends. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman who truly enjoyed the outdoors. He was a longtime member of Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever.
On Wednesday, October 29, 2014 Bob died at the Golden Living Center in Benson, MN at the age of 86.
Bob is survived by his six children, Charles (Rita) Stellmach of Murdock, MN , Rick (Laura) Stellmach of Tucson, AZ, Sharon (Don) Noyes of Sioux Falls, SD, Ken Stellmach of Marshall, MN, Dean (Lynne) Stellmach of Tempe, AZ and Robbie (Doug) Goodmund of Marshall, MN, seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Briffet of Ivanhoe, brother, Don (Helen) Stellmach of Ivanhoe, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVone, his parents, daughter-in-law Dagmar Stellmach, brother-in-law, George Briffet and sister, Audrey (Niles) Larson.
