Mass of Christian burial for Robert “Bob” Aloysius Tillemans, 78, of Minneota will take place at St Edward Catholic Church, Minneota, MN, Thursday April 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Public visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Minneota, MN from 5: 00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday morning at St. Edward beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery following the funeral mass. Upon conclusion of the graveside service a luncheon will be provided at St. Edward.
Robert Aloysius Tillemans was born on March 11th, 1947 in Marshall MN, to Aloysius and Frances (Panneck) Tillemans. He grew up on the family farm near Minneota. He graduated from Minneota High School in 1965. He attended Canby Technical College and received a degree in welding. He worked for K.P. Kompelien on road construction for a few years. He then was employed by Slagel and Wambeke in construction building and remodeling of many homes in the Marshall area. His final employment was at the Minneota Manor in maintenance.
He was united in marriage to Charlene (Hodges) on July 12th, 1969. They made their home in Minneota and raised their five children, Mark, Ryan, Jeff, Julie, and Shelly. His faith in God was very important to him. He was a gentle man with a big heart and was an inspiration to his family and friends by his words and example.
Bob had many interests including his love for hunting and fishing. One of his greatest enjoyments was his carpentry work. He built country dining room tables for each one of his children made with love. He also made many other treasured pieces of furniture for family and friends. He enjoyed camping and the many golf cart rides at his lake home. He also enjoyed the many animals that were raised on his farm including sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens, horses, and pigeons.
Bob loved spending time with his family celebrating many occasions including the grandkids’ sporting events, the 4th of July family gatherings, Christmas, and the annual deer hunting adventures, along with 4-wheeling excursions. Bob and Charlene enjoyed their annual trips to the Clay County Fair in Spencer, IA, as well as two extended vacations, one to Italy and one to Alaska.
Bob died peacefully on Friday April 4th, at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Charlene; son Mark (Cindy) and their children Luke, Ashley, and Lily; son Ryan (Amy) and their children, Addie, Austyn, Branden (Sonja) and their daughter Serena; son Jeff (Rachel) and their children Mason, Evan, and Owen; daughter Julie (Tony) Mead and their children Blake, Alexa, and Tenley; daughter Shelly (Jamie) Ratajczak and their daughter Natalie.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Al and Frances Tillemans; in-laws Maynard and Lula Hodges; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law David and Arlene Hodges, Walter and Mary Ellen Sharp, and Kenneth Kremer.
