Robert VandePutte

Robert Joseph VandePutte was born on August 31, 1928, in Clifton Township, to Joseph and Leona (Vroman) VandePutte. He was born, raised and lived his whole life on the family farm. Robert was very passionate about farming, especially when caring for his animals. On December 28, 1954, he was united in marriage to Joanne Hullopeter at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. The couple raised three children; Robbie, Cindy and Joel. Family was very important to Robert. He was a longtime member of the Clifton Township Board. Robert was a very kind hearted and gentle man. Robert died on Sunday, October 24, 2010, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Joanne of Rural Marshall, children Roberta “Robbie” (and Bill) Mahal of Houston, TX, Cynthia “Cindy” (and Tom) Newton of Savannah, GA, Joel (and Nancy) VandePutte of Marshall, grandchildren MeliSsa (and Matt) McMemeny, Brandon Mahal, Holly (and Shadi) Al-KhAlil, Nicolaus, Jordan and Colin, great-grandchildren Braeden and Luke Robert, siblings Helen Vandendriessche, Jane Wegman, Joan Rickman, Donna Brewers and Jim VandePutte, sister-in-law Mary VandePutte of Tracy, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Lester and Don. Memorials Preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
