Robert Julius Wendland

Robert Julius Wendland, 86, of Balaton, will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Balaton, Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place at the Sillerud Lutheran Cemetery in Rural Balaton . Arrangements with Almlie-Horvath Funeral Service of Balaton. Robert Julius Wendland was born on August 22, 1927, to Emil and Minnie (Ziemke) Wendland in Lyon County. He was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Robert was a veteran of World War II and was engaged most of his life in construction work. In December, 1966, he was united in marriage to Inez Reinholdt Bunniss. He enjoyed his retirement years with gardening and watching baseball. Robert died on Monday, June 30, 2014, at the Colonial Manor in Balaton. He is survived by his wife, Inez, of Balaton, step-children Tony (and Jan) Bunniss of Webster, MN, Leslie (and Gayle) Bunniss of East Bethel, grandchildren Jeffrey Bunniss, Kim Bunniss Smith, Todd DeVries, Daniel Bunniss, Darrin Bunniss, six great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, brothers Darwin “Duffy,” Wesley and Dennis and sister Marilyn Jacobson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Minnie Wendland, step-dad Paul Wendland, brothers Orville, Marvin and Harlan.
