Ronald Harris Christensen was born on July 12, 1943, in Marshall, to Harris and Virginia (Petersen) Christensen. He grew up in Lynd and graduated from Lynd Public School. Ron enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 – 1964 and was stationed in France. On April 16, 1977, he was united in marriage to Kathy (Van Moer) Holmgren at Albright United Methodist Church in Marshall. The couple resided in Marshall. Ron worked for Cattoor’s Oil Company and later Cattoor Car Wash. He worked in the maintenance department for Schwan’s Sales until illness prevented him from working in 2010. Ron enjoyed fishing, spending time at the lake, watching birds and squirrels, and he had a passion for planting trees. Most of all, Ron loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dog pals Abby and Maggie. Ron died on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathy, of Marshall, children Rhonda (and Mike) DeVos of Marshall, Brian (and Mary) Christensen of Decatur, IL, Joel (and Heather) Holmgren of Marshall, Mike Holmgren of Crystal, Dan (and Laura) Holmgren of Crystal, Jenny Christensen of Marshall, grandchildren Jessica (and Jordan) Guetter, Spencer Christensen, Chancey DeVos, Tylar Holmgren, Derek Holmgren, Gabi Christensen, Jackson Holmgren, Bella Forseth, great-grandchildren Gage and Grady Guetter, siblings Deloris (and Dick) Richards of Marshall, Cheryl (and Larry) Stechmann of Baxter, Dannie (and Linda) Christensen of Watertown, SD, Nancy (and Jim) Van Den Broecke of Marshall, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and infant brother Michael. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall and Holy Redeemer School Foundation Fund.
