The funeral service for Ronald Lavoie, 78, of Tracy, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home in Tracy. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 6, from 4:00 p.m. â 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton.
Ronald Van Lavoie was born on January 21, 1938, in Florence, MN, to Van and Lucille Lavoie. He grew up on the family farm near Russell. Ronald married Mary Ellen Likness on October 9, 1954. The couple lived and raised their family in the local area. He farmed for a while and later did road construction. Ronald then went to work doing construction for Robert L. Carr Construction of Marshall. He worked on several projects all over the country. He later became known as the âiron manâ and hauled many loads of iron to the recycler. He also was very fond of working with his cattle.
Ronald died on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Mary Ellen, of Tracy, children Avis Hasert (and Bruce) of Minneota, Bonnie (and Leroy) Goetsch of Bellingham, MN, Brian Lavoie (and Teresa Bautista-Tec) of Tracy, Russell (and Melinda) Lavoie of Gainsville, FL, Maria Lavoie of Madison, MN, Bobbi Lavoie of Tracy, Mark Lavoie of Tracy, Ashley (and Darrell) Allen of Marshall, Alicia Lavoie of Tracy, Kalsey Jones of Tracy and Kaila Jones of Marshall, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers Charles (and Maxine) Lavoie of Marshall and David Lavoie of Ivanhoe. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert.
