Ronald Wayne Swanson

Ronald Swanson age 65 of Marshall, formerly of Balaton, MN died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton. Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Balaton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Internment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton, followed by a luncheon in the church social hall. The Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton is handling the arrangements. Ronald Wayne Swanson was born September 1, 1947 to Enoch E. and Donna M. (Christensen) Swanson in Tyler, MN, Lincoln County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Balaton United Methodist Church and attended Balaton Public Schools, graduating from Balaton High School in 1965. In 1970, Ronald married Joanne Schmidt and they made their home in Pipestone, MN where he worked for his father-in-law at Schmidt Plumbing and Heating. They moved to Chandler, AZ where he worked as Service Manager for a Chevrolet dealer in Gila Bend, AZ. On May 29, 1982 Ronald married Ursula Greeno and they had three children, Danielle, Tracy, and Craig. In 1983 they moved to Balaton, and then in 1986 Ron moved to Marshall, MN. Over the years, Ron worked for Tholen Auto as a mechanic, then as Part’s Manager for Anton Chevrolet and most recently, was the Maintenance Supervisor for Broadmoor Valley, all in Marshall. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, woodworking, ceramics, stock car racing and working in the pit crew, and especially cars in general. In June of 2013, with failing health, he became a resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton, where he died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the age of 65. Ronald is survived by his two daughters, Danielle (Jimmy) Skarl of Balaton, MN and Tracy (Tim) Lyngen of Cottonwood, MN; one son, Craig Swanson of Marshall, MN; eight grandchildren, Ashlee, Brianna, Taylor, Riely, Mattea, Hunter, Jaycee, and Wesley; four sisters, Laura (Jim) Allen of Vining, MN, Rita (David) Paul of St. James, MN, Elaine (Peter) Hanson of Vining, MN, and Wanda (John) Scharfe of Ruthton, MN; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. His parents, Enoch and Donna Swanson preceded him in death.
