Ronald A. Worden age 74 of Westbrook, MN died Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Sanford-Sioux Valley Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, also at the church, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. The interment will be in the Westbrook Cemetery. The Almlie Funral Home of Westbrook is handling the arrangements. Ronald Alvin Worden was born July 27, 1937 to Alvin and Bernice (Haberman) Worden in Heron Lake, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended St. Gabriel School. On October 4, 1958 Ron married Delien Schmalz at the 1st Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, now Grace Lutheran Church . They made their home in Westbrook, MN where Ron worked for the City of Westbrook as Street Commissioner for 32 years. After his retirement in 1999 he drove truck part-time for Meadowland Fertilizer and Elevator. Ron was not only busy with his work, but was very active in the community as well. He served 27 years on the Westbrook Fire Department, was a past Jaycee’s member and active in Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, bowling, shuffleboard, bingo and wintering in Texas, but it was the times spent with his children, grandchildren and friends that he loved the most. On Friday, September 23, 2011 Ron died, surrounded by his loving family, at Sanford-Sioux Valley Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 74. Ron is survived by his wife, Delien Worden of Westbrook, MN; his mother, Bernice Worden of Iowa City, IA; two sons, Ricky Worden of Aberdeen, SD and Douglas (Harriet) Worden of Coon Rapids, MN; one daughter, Laurie (Brett) Salo of Grand Rapids, MN; four grandchildren, Samuel, Marissa and Jackson Salo and John Worden; God children, Marla Guazzo and Justin Schmalz; two sisters, Kathleen Richardson of Iowa City, IA and Mary (James) Morrill of Brandon, FL; seven brothers, Richard (Gloria) Worden of North Liberty, IA; Roger (Phyllis) Worden of Okabena, MN, Thomas (Darla) Worden of Mankato, MN, David (Julie) Worden of Fulda, MN, Robert Worden of Iowa City, IA, Charles (Ursala) Worden of Farmington, IA, and Mark (LuAnn) Worden of North Liberty, IA; three brothers-in-law, Dale Sanderson of Iowa City, IA, Reinold (Diane) Schmalz of Palatine, IL, and Steven (Linda) Schmalz of Westbrook, MN; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His father, Alvin, two infant sons, three brothers, Theodore, Daniel and James, sister, Janet Sanderson, brother-in-law, Robert Richardson, his In-Laws, Melvin and Elizabeth Schmalz and several nieces and nephews preceded him in death.
