A much-loved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Roy Buysse, 59, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, lost the fight to liver cancer at Sanford Hospital February 11, 2013 with his family present. The liver cancer, with other complications was a direct result of Hemochromatosis.
Roy was born August 15, 1953 in Ghent, MN, a son of the late Bernard and Loretta (DeCock) Buysse. He attended St Eloi and Minneota schools. On September 11, 1976 he married Ina Jeremiason. They lived together in the Ghent, MN area before relocating to Sioux Falls, SD in 1986, with their three daughters. Roy worked on the farm, and then later worked with a trucking company in Sioux Falls, SD. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included fixing up damaged vehicles, camping, and later spending time at Lake Cochrane. He stopped working in 2001 due to complications from Hemochromatosis and moved to the Lake. Most recently, he has enjoyed his grandchildren, wintering in Texas and woodcarving.
Roy is survived by his dedicated wife of 36 years, Ina Jeremiason Buysse; along with three daughters, Jessica and Carl Risty, of Sioux Falls, SD, Amanda and Craig Fields, of Sioux Falls, SD, and Laura and Justin Weig, of Omaha, NE; 5 grandchildren, Hayden and Alexander Risty and Clara, Allen, and Bria Fields; two siblings, Ardyce (Laurence) Louwagie, of Cottonwood and Noreen (Terrence) Blanchette of Porter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Loretta and his brother Earl.
