Roy Howard Towne, 54 of St. Paul, formerly of Balaton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Rawlins, Wyoming. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm on Monday at the Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home in Balaton with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton with a luncheon to follow at the church. Roy Howard Towne was born on January 3, 1961 to Howard and Doris (Watkins) Towne in Tracy, Minnesota. He was baptized in the Christian faith, attended Canby and Tracy Elementary Schools, and graduated from Decatur Community High School in Oberlin, Kansas. During his senior year, Roy joined the National Guard and after his 12 years of service, was honorably discharged in 1992. After high school, Roy worked various jobs in Kansas before returning to the Balaton area. Roy attended truck driving classes in Cottonwood and received his CDL. He worked for MCT in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, B and B Procurement in Marshall, and Eichoff Enterprises Inc. in Marshall for 25 years. Most recently, Roy lived in St. Paul and worked as a truck driver for Lessor’s Inc. in Eagan, Minnesota. Roy was a member of the Balaton American Legion. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, bingo, and loved his occupation as a truck driver. He loved spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephew. Roy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Rawlins, Wyoming at the age of 54. He is survived by his four brothers Doug (Lori) Towne of Marshall, Kendall Towne of Tracy, Bryan (Nicole) Towne of Minneota, and Larry Towne of Portage, WI; fiancé Gloria Lewis of St. Paul and her children Keith Lewis and Damara Glenn; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, a a great nephew, cousins, and many friends. His parents Howard and Doris, two nieces, and one great niece preceded him in death. Blessed be his memory.
