Salvador Talamantes was born on November 9, 1937, in Mapimi Durango, Mexico, to Amado Talamantes Moreno and Maria Medina Martinez. He grew up in San Isidro Lerdo, Durango. When he was an adult, he came to the United States and worked as a laborer in Texas, California, and most recently Minnesota. Salvador was very fond of his four dogs. He also enjoyed listening to music, gardening, walking, spending time with his family and watching his novelas. In 2001, Salvador was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After 10 years of remission, the cancer returned in 2011.
Salvador died on Tuesday, January 06, 2015, at his residence in Lynd, MN, under the care of Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall. He is survived by his spouse, Tomasa Ibarra, children Jesus (and Linda) Talamantes of Lytle, TX, Jorge (and Lydia) Talamantes of Lerdo, Durango, MX, Maria (and Carlos) Rodriguez of Lerdo, Durango, MX, Jose (and Patricia) Talamantes of Lerdo, Durango, MX, Jose (and Maria) Talamantes of Loraine, TX, Martina (and Hilario) Antunez of Lynd, Salvador (and Monica) Talamantes of Marshall, Maria Henderson of Lynd, Laura Talamantes of Lerdo, Durango, MX, Sergio (and Jessica) Talamantes , Austin, MN, step children Brenda (and Humberto) Mendez, Jaime (and Crysta Lee) Castaneda, Manuela (and Omar) Ledesma), 35 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first spouse, Agustina Lopez, son Jose Guadalupe Talamantes and siblings Leonarda, Teodoro and Elena Talamantes.
