Mass of Christian Burial for Sandra “Sandy” Redding, 79, of Marshall, will be Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. A livestream and recording of the service will be available at www.holy-redeemer.com. Visitation will take place on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a CCW Rosary at 4:00 and a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.
Sandra Marie (Verdeck) Redding was born on August 1, 1943, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, Iowa, and was adopted as a baby by Marie and Leroy Verdeck. She received her sacraments at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Sandy went to Catholic school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1961. She attended the College of St. Benedict for two years, as well as Mankato State and Southwest State University. On September 28, 1963, Sandy was united in marriage to Patrick Redding at Holy Redeemer Church. To this union four sons were born: Michael, Steven, Brian, and Aaron. Sandy was a stay at home mom until the boys were in high school. She then worked at computer stores in Marshall. She taught senior college classes in computers at SMSU.
Sandy served on many boards. She was on the Holy Redeemer Parish Council and served communion at Holy Redeemer and Boulder Estates, and she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and Catholic Daughters. Sandy was a past Region III President, Treasurer, and Historian of the New Ulm Diocese CCW. She also served on the Lyon County Fair Board and 30 years on the Project Turnabout Board. Sandy and Pat moved to Boulder Estates in January 2022.
Sandy died on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at her residence in Marshall. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Pat; sons Michael (LaVonne), Steven (Michelle), and Brian (Missy); grandchildren Corrine, Gretchen, Caroline, Hallie, Elizabeth, Jonah, Claire, and Brookelyn; sister Mary (Jon) Blank and brother Mike (Shari) Verdeck; as well as many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Marie, son Aaron, grandson Joseph, brothers-in-law Daniel and Kevin, sister-in-law Judith, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Home Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
