Shane Joel Johnson was born on January 1, 1972, in Marshall, to Ardell and Jeanne (Claeys) Johnson. He grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School. Shane then attended Vocational Technical School in Willmar for a couple of years. When he was 17, Shane enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve. He served for six months in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged from the Reserve in 2002. In 2003, he enlisted with the Appleton Unit of the U.S. National Guard. He served two deployments in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. On July 28, 2007, he was united in marriage to Emily Tveit in Everett, WA. Shane worked as a maintenance technician for the National Guard and also enjoyed helping his father, Dell, with his farm operations. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycling and auto racing. He was most passionate about spending time with his family, especially his children.
Shane died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Emily, children Parker, Ryeland and Abel of Taunton, Tyler of Fergus Falls, Maria and Carson of Lamberton, parents, Ardell and Jeanne Johnson of Minneota, siblings Scott (and Nicole) Johnson of Taunton, Seth (and Alyssa) Johnson of Porter, Stephanie (and Joey) DeVlieger of Duluth, Sadie (and Chad) Stripling of Parker, CO, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
