Shirley Buzzell

Shirley A. Buzzell age 81 of Tracy, MN died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Augustana Apple Valley Healthcare Center in Apple Valley, MN. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at the Tracy City Cemetery. Shirley Ann Buzzell was born March 8, 1926 to Alfred F. and Ester (Thoreson) Boline on a farm near Henning, MN, Ottertail County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Henning Public Schools. Her family moved into Henning her senior year, where she graduated from Henning High School in 1944. Shirley then attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo, ND and she received her degree in nursing in 1947. She moved to Minneapolis soon after college and worked in Midway Hospital in St. Paul, MN and several other twin cities' hospitals. On February 23, 1952 Shirley married Charles I. Buzzell in Henning and they made their home in Tracy, MN. Shirley worked in the Tracy Hospital and as a substitute at the Tracy Clinic for a short time and then stayed home to raise her three daughters. Shirley was a member of the Tracy Lutheran Church, where she had been active over the years as a Sunday School Teacher and in her bible study, circle, other women’s groups and quilting. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Prime Timer’s, Investment Club, Luncheon Club and various Bridge Clubs. She also served as a Campfire Girls Leader for her daughters. Shirley also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, sewing, knitting, reading, and was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. In May of 2007 Shirley became a resident of the Valley View Manor in Lamberton, MN before moving to the Augustana Apple Valley Healthcare Center in Apple Valley, MN in October of 2007, where she died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the age of 81. Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Chris (Marvin) Mickelson of West Fargo, ND, Pat (Steve) Vickerman of Tracy, MN and Connie (Chuck) Hayes of Woodbury, MN; six grandchildren, Amanda Mickelson, Jason (Susan) Vickerman, Jessica (Greg) TeBrake, Kari (Nick) Taintor, Meredith (Mike) Hayes Gordon and Taylor Hayes; one great granddaughter, Anna Vickerman; two brothers, Ralph Boline of Anoka, MN and Jimmie Boline of Wausau, WI; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Boline of Jacksonville, FL and Sharon Boline of Wadena, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband, Charles, parents, three brothers, Charles, David and Donald and two sisters-in-law, Marlys and Barb preceded her in death.
