Shirley Ann (Gillund) Hettling was born on March 4, 1950, in Marshall to Harvey and Joyce (Moseng) Gillund. She grew up and attended school in Marshall, graduating from Marshall High School in 1968. On March 6, 1971, Shirley was united in marriage to Danny Hettling. After living in Marshall for a couple of years, the couple moved to Minneota where they made their home and raised their family. Shirley was a very caring person and was always looking out for others. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, spending time with her grandchildren and talking with her friends. She was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church as a Sunday School teacher and with the church circle. She was also a girl scout leader for many years.
Recently, Shirley spent four months living at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. She died peacefully at home, with her family at her side, on Tuesday, August 14, 2007.
She is survived by her husband, Danny, of Minneota, children Shantele Germundson of Marshall, Lee (Angie) Hettling of Minneota, Jessica (Grant) Poehler of North Mankato, grandchildren Brandon, Kelsey, Jameson, Gabrielle and Gavyn Hettling, siblings Cliff Gillund, Jan (Denny) Michelson, Roger (Nancy) Gillund, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
