Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley Rogge, 94, of Marshall, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. A walk-through visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. â 7:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall and continues Thursday from 12:30 p.m. â 1:30 p.m. at the remembrance center. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. Masks are required at all indoor events and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Shirley Jeanette (Langan) Rogge was born on March 23, 1927, in Minneota, to Ed and Margaret (Blake) Langan, the youngest of four children. She grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School. Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a telephone operator. On January 22, 1952, Shirley was united in marriage to Robert Rogge at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. In their younger years, the couple enjoyed dancing and looked forward to the occasional Sunday drive. In addition to raising their eight children, the couple owned and operated âRogge Sewing and Vacuum Centerâ for 35 years. Shirley enjoyed vegetable gardening and tending to her many flowers. She always looked forward to visits from her children and grandchildren. For the last several years, she resided at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.
Shirley died on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She is survived by her sons Cary of Temple City, CA, Kim of Honolulu, HI, and Jay (Barbara) of Hanley Falls, her daughters Cathy (Steve) Malherek of Marshall and Lisa (Joel) Kretsch of Redwood Falls, her brother Ed Langan, 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, their sons Kevin, Dean and Troy, and her sisters Lucille and Katherine.
