Stanley Norman Schlorf was born in Marshall May 15, 1923 to William and Anna (Klug) Schlorf. As a young child, Stanley attended Lynd Country School. He grew up learning to work hard on a farm with his sister Shirley and continued to farm the rest of his life. He was confirmed at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church on August 2, 1936. After graduating from Marshall High School, Stanley settled his own farm south of Marshall. At a young age he learned to rely on his faith through the church, Stanley met Erma Pagel and they would later be united in marriage on November 30, 1952 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. Faith was at the center of Stanleyâs life. Stanley was a dedicated, life-long member of the church and served the church through many roles; including: the superintendent of the Sunday school, as a member of the church council and as an usher. He enjoyed spending time playing on the churchâs softball and dartball league. He also enjoyed farming and gardening and sold Mallard seed corn for many years. Stanley and Erma raised their family on the farm near Balaton before they moved into Marshall during the winter of 1996. Stanley greatest joy was being involved in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildrenâs lives. He taught them how to play pinochle and live a life of faith. He and Erma loved to travel to Michigan and California to see their family.
Stanley died peacefully surrounded by his family on September 20, 2013 after a brief illness.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Lundberg of Marshall, Douglas (Paula) Schlorf of Montrose, MI, Kelvin Schlorf of Tarzana, CA, Danella (Martin) Sahagian of Palos Verdes, CA and Corrine Haak of Vesta; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; many other friends and family.
Stanley was welcomed into Heaven by his wife, Erma; parents; and sister, Shirley.
Blessed be his memory.
