Barbara Susan (Sumerfelt) Johnson was born February 28, 1952, in
Minneota to Lawrence and Barbara (Bernardy) Sumerfelt. She grew up on the
family farm near Taunton and attended school in Minneota. On December 26,
1969, she was united in marriage to Francis L. Johnson at Sts. Cyril &
Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. She was a stay-at-home mom and later
worked at the Schott Corporation for several years. She most recently worked
at the Minneota Manor in the dietary department as a cook. She enjoyed
cooking, gardening, traveling, fishing, sewing and knitting.
She went on many fishing trips and vacations with her special
friend, Gary Timp. Susan was most passionate about spending time with
friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She died on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at the Avera Marshall Medical Center after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her daughters Jill (and John) Wambeke of Taunton, Janet
(and Robert) King of Canby, Kari Lozinski of Mankato and Laura Johnson of
Buffalo, grandchildren Truman and Riley Wambeke, Konnor, Kameron and Kyle
King, Brock Lozinski, Hayley Richter and Jake Traen, parents Lawrence and
Barbara Sumerfelt of Taunton, siblings Pat (and Rolly) Thielges, Rosann
(and Mike) Schmitt, Tom (and Marlys) Sumerfelt, Joanie (and Glenn) Korman,
John (and Chris) Sumerfelt, Tim (and Janet) Sumerfelt, special friend Gary
Timp of Decorah, IA, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Mary Jane.
