Susan Gail (Teigland) Schreier was born on August 28, 1956, in Marshall, MN, to Henry and Gloria (Drengson) Teigland. She grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School in 1974. Sue attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. On August 7, 1976, she was united in marriage to John Schreier. The couple made their home and raised their family in the Minneota area. In her mid-30s, Sue went to SSU in Marshall where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Music Education, specializing in both vocal and instrumental music.
Sue was very passionate about music. She touched many lives through this gift. Whether teaching, singing, or playing, music was her language of love. She was very kind and patient with her students and the recipients of her gift are too numerous to mention. She played, sang, and accompanied soloists at numerous weddings, funerals, school functions and other occasions. In 2012 she and her family opened The Note Gallery on Main Street in Marshall. Sue also enjoyed sewing and cake decorating. She sewed her own wedding dress (including last minute alterations on the way to the church) and operated “Cakes by Sue” in her younger years. Sue was a woman of faith and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was especially fond of time spent with her family.
In 2022, Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer. After successfully completing her treatment and being designated cancer free, she suffered a pulmonary lung illness. Sue died on Saturday, May 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD due to the lung illness. Sue is survived by her husband John, of Marshall; children Christopher of Marshall, Sarah Hanson of Vadnais Heights, Thomas Schreier of Chandler, AZ and Terrance Schreier of Chandler, AZ; her one and only, and very special granddaughter Hazel Hanson, siblings Jerry (and Dorie) Teigland of Minneota, Shirley Teigland of Minneota, Larry (and Pat) Teigland of Iowa City, IA, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and countless others whose lives she touched.
