Theodore Nicholas Unzen was born on March 15, 1915, in St. Leo, to Christ and Eva (Winker) Unzen. From 1941 â 1945, Ted served in the U.S. Army. His military duties took him to many different countries of which he was very proud. On February 19, 1946, he was united in marriage to Helen Roggenbuck. Ted owned and operated a tavern in Nassau, MN, for several years. He and Helen then moved to Ghent where they farmed for many years until their retirement. Ted enjoyed fishing, playing cards and visiting with friends. He died on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Teresa (and Matt) Drobney of Bellingham, MN, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, and siblings Elizabeth, Nick, John, Joseph, Tony, Josephine and Robert.
