The funeral service for Troy Allen Thompson, 58, of rural Taunton, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church and will continue on Thursday, one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Minneota.
Troy Allen Thompson was born on October 8, 1964, in Marshall, to Duane and Saundra “Sandy” Thompson. He grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School. Troy attended Diesel Mechanic Program at the Alexandria Vocational Technical School. He later obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Southwest State University in Marshall. On March 21, 1995, he was united in marriage to Carla Hetland. To this couple were born sons Andrew, Adam and Austin. Troy worked for R & G Construction before joining and later purchasing his family business: Thompson Excavating. Troy had a high mechanical aptitude. He enjoyed his work and also enjoyed teaching and mentoring his sons. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and ice fishing. He loved his family and was a caring husband, father and grandfather.
Troy died on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN after a recent accident. He is survived by his wife, Carla, of rural Taunton, son Andrew (and Breanna) Thompson of Amiret: grandchildren Trinity, Journey and Axel, son Adam (and Kelsey) Thompson of Faribault, son Austin Thompson of Marshall; mother Saundra “Sandy” Thompson of Minneota; siblings Pamela (and Mike) Weckwerth of Canby, Daniel (and Lynda) Thompson of Faribault, Scott (and Nancee) Thompson of Orlando, FL, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Duane.
