Tyrus Couture

Tyrus Joseph Couture was born on March 11, 1913, in Marshall, to Victor and Louise (Como) Couture. As a young child, he moved with his family to Morris where he attended grade school before moving back to Marshall where he graduated from Marshall High School. On June 4, 1933, Ty was united in marriage to Mary Cool. Ty moved to Alaska for a couple of years where he worked for the Alaskian Highway. He later returned to Marshall and went to work for the family business, Couture’s Bar. He operated the bar until his retirement in the late 1970s. After retirement, Ty kept busy by doing odd jobs for people including yard work, painting, etc. Ty was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially deer hunting trips out west. Ty was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Third Degree. He died on Monday, October 08, 2007, at the Golden Living Center in Slayton, MN. Ty is survived by his daughter Victorine Couture of Marshall, granddaughters Lisa, Margaret, Amy, Anne, Elizabeth and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, son Gary and brother Lloyd.
