Violet Loeck age 79 of Northridge, CA and formerly of Balaton, MN died February 15, 2010 in Northridge. Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Balaton. Visitation will be held on Saturday, prior to the service at the church, from 12:00 (noon) until time of service. Interment will be in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Balaton in the spring. The Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton is handling the arrangements. Violet Leona Loeck was born January 17, 1931 to Henry and Emma (Goltz) Loeck in New Ulm, MN, Brown County. Her mother passed away on the 29th of January and she was baptized in New Ulm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on January 30th and confirmed in 1945 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Balaton, MN. Violet attended Balaton High School and after graduating she attended Mankato State College in Mankato, MN for two years. After college Violet worked at a bank in Marshall, MN for a short time, before moving to Freemont, NE, where she worked in a meat packing plant. Violet then moved to California where she worked for North American Aviation as a packaging supervisor. She retired after nearly 25 years with the company. Violet kept her membership through the years at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Balaton and made many trips, in the past years, back to her home town of Balaton and New Ulm to visit family. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening, especially growing roses around her home. On February 15, 2010 Violet died at the Northridge Hospital in Northridge, CA at the age of 79. Violet is survived by her one brother, Willis (Joyce) Loeck of Appleton, WI; one sister, Viola Wegner of Norfolk, NE; very close cousin, Donald Loeck of New Ulm, MN; nine nieces and nephews; and special friend, James (Gail) Morris of West Hills, CA. Her parents and one brother-in-law, Leo Wegner preceded her in death.
