Violet Augusta Otilie was the youngest of eight children born to Emil and Minnie (Gladitsch) Redmann April 1, 1913 in Granite Rock Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. She was baptized May 4, 1913 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milroy by Pastor Ehmke and confirmed August 14, 1927 also in Milroy by Pastor Roesch. She attended District 81 Country School in Granite Rock Township. Violet and Sam Pullman of Hitchcock, SD were united in marriage November 7, 1939 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage in Redwood Falls by Rev. Edward Birkholz. Following their marriage they lived in the Marshall, Tracy, Lucan, Walnut Grove and Milroy areas, returning to Marshall in 1960. In 1991, Violet moved to Marshall Square Apartments where she lived until September, 1998 when she became a resident at Valley View Manor Nursing Home in Lamberton. On October 1, 2009, she became a resident of St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Violet was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. Violet died Saturday, January 16, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Her hobbies included flowers, vegetable gardening, preserving the garden produce and selling her many handicraft items. She was well known for crocheted names. Her family was her biggest enjoyment. Violet is survived by her son Ronald (and Judy) Pullman of Marshall, daughter Junette (and Thomas) Merchant of Westbrook, grandchildren; Rick Pullman of Milroy, Kim (and Matt) Grunewald of Lamberton, Stacy Pullman of Marshall, Chad (and Angie) Pullman of Marshall, Jamie (and Michelle) Pullman of St. Joseph, Joseph Merchant (and significant other Michele) of Nicollet, Jason Merchant of Detroit Lakes, Jeffrey Merchant of Dickinson, ND; 8 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sam in1989, son David in 1968, grandson Brian Pullman, brothers Martin and Fred and sisters; Elsie, Ann, Esther, Cora and Emma.
