Vivian Merlaine Rolland

Vivian Rolland age 91 of Tracy, MN died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Sanford-Sioux Valley Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Milroy, MN. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy. Interment will be in the Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Milroy in the spring of 2011. The Almlie of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Vivian Merlaine Rolland was born February 18, 1919 to John and Elma (Olson) Johnson on the farm southwest of Tracy, MN, Lyon County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Hoiland Lutheran Church near Garvin, MN and attended Country School District #88. On October 15, 1938, Vivian married Manley Rolland in Brookings, SD and they made their home in Marshall, MN. After Manley's discharge from the Navy they moved to a farm west of Milroy, MN and later to the family farm south of Milroy where they raised their family. Vivian was a housewife and mother to seven sons. Vivian enjoyed selling Avon products in the surrounding community. She was a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for 30 years with many loyal customers. In 1978, they retired from farming and moved into Tracy. She was a avid golfer and member of the Tracy Country Club. During their retirement, Vivian and Manley enjoyed traveling and experiencing the warm weather of Florida and Arizona in the winter months. They settled in Mesa, AZ where they spent many winters with their many friends from the Minnesota area. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Milroy and was active in the church women’s groups. Vivian enjoyed spending time with her family. In 2006, she became a resident of the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy, and passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the age of 91. Vivian is survived by four sons, Richard (Ardace) Rolland of Lindstrom, MN, Larry (Peggy) Rolland of Milroy, MN, Doug (Gail) Rolland of Willmar, MN, and Dale (Bette) Rolland of Apache Junction, AZ; three daughters-in-law, Ann Rolland of New Richmond, WI, Cathy Phillips of Shakopee, MN and Jackie Denny of Plymouth, MN; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Viola (Robert) Knott of Tracy, MN and Eldora Buchholz of Westbrook, MN; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Manley, three sons; David, Robert and Terry; granddaughter, Elizabeth ; two sisters; Myrtle Christenson and Ruth Prouty, and three brothers, Kenneth, Orvin and Maurice Johnson and daughter-in-law, Nita Rolland.
