Vivien Mae Carroll

Vivien Carroll age 87, formerly of Balaton and Tracy, MN, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London, MN. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 29, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2011, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, at the Almlie Funeral Home in Balaton. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Balaton. The Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton is handling the arrangements. Vivien Mae Carroll was born on May 18, 1923 to William and Helen (Knudson) Johnson in Balaton, Minnesota, Lyon County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She attended and graduated from Balaton High School in 1940. On November 15, 1941 Vivien married Robert Carroll in Balaton where they made their home until 1996. After her husband’s death in 1996, Vivien moved to Tracy where she lived in an apartment and then to the Tracy Nursing Home until it closed. She then moved to New London, MN where she lived at the Glen Oaks Assisted Living Home and Care Center. Vivien was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton for many years and then Tracy Lutheran Church until moving to New London. She helped out in the church library and was involved in the ladies circle. She also helped out at the Balaton Public Library and was a voting center volunteer at election time. Vivien was a Homemaker who loved to read, go for walks, play bridge with her club, dancing in her younger years, and music, especially Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. Her favorite times were with her children and grand children. On Monday, April 25, 2011 Vivien died at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London, MN, at the age of 87. Vivien is survived by her one son, Gary (Sally) Carroll of Vancouver, WA; three daughters, Marlene (Harold) Halfmann of Tracy, MN, Diane (John) Woodhall of Spicer, MN, and Lori (Ken) Amundson of Sacramento, CA; nine grandchildren, Robert and Megan Carroll, Michael and Marc Turner, Adam, Erik, and Ryan Woodhall, and Michael and Ashley Amundson; five great-grandchildren, David, Grant, Jaclyn, Alexis, and Lincoln Turner; and two step-great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jackson Lounsberg; nieces, nephews, and friends. Her husband Robert, parents, and one brother, Warren (Agnes) Johnson, one sister-in-law, Agnes (Merrill) Pederson preceded her in death.
