Wally E. Loyson was born on November 20, 1942, in Minneota, MN, to Art and Julia (Bot) Loyson. He grew up on a farm near Ghent, attended St. Eloi Elementary School in Ghent and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Marshall. Wally enlisted and served in the U.S. National Guard. On November 5, 1966, he was united in marriage to Ann DeMeyer at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple made their home and raised their family on the Loyson farm near Ghent. Wally lived on this farm his whole life until moving to Marshall in 2004. Wally was very passionate about farming. He served on the Lyon County Farm Service board and the Southwest Cattlemenâs Association. He was also an active member of St. Eloi Catholic Church and served on the Finance Board and the Board of Education. Wally was most proud of his family and especially enjoyed family time at Potato Lake in Park Rapids.
Wally died on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at his residence in Marshall under the care of Prairie Home Hospice. He is survived by his wife, Ann, of Marshall, daughter Susie (and Aric) Fier of Eden Prairie, grandchildren Matthew, Sarah and Zachary, daughter Sandy (and John) Tappe of Madison, SD, grandchildren Tyler and Jessie, son Doug (and Jodi) Loyson of Ghent, grandchildren Lane, Kylee, Mariah and Jacob, daughter Nancy (and Jared) Brockmueller of Irene, SD, granddaughter Addison, sisters Maureen (and Dick) Roy of Burnsville, Patt (and Larry) Kaiser of Mora, nephews Greg, Andy and John Kaiser. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
