Willis I. Scott age 101 of Tracy, MN died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Prairie View Health Care Center in Tracy. Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Church of Christ in Tracy. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Friday, July 27, 2012 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery, with a luncheon served immediately following the burial in the church social hall. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
Willis âBillâ Irving Scott was born October 16, 1910 to Irving and Mary (Edwards) Scott in Amiret, MN, Lyon County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended country school. As a young man he farmed with his family.
In the fall of 1929 Willis married Gladys Makovsky and they made their home on a farm north of Tracy, MN, until 1951 when they moved to Pine River, MN. While in Pine River, Willis was a manager in the Durkeeâs Manufacturing Plant. He retired in the mid 1980âs and they continued to live in Pine River for several more years. In 1990 they moved back to Tracy.
Willis was a member of the Church of Christ in Tracy his whole life as well as a past member of the Assembly of God Church in Pine River, MN. He served on various committees and was very active in the church. When living in Tracy he volunteered time at the Christian Manor Nursing Home in Tracy. He enjoyed camping, deer hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, vegetable gardening, for which he always had a large garden, and making home-made ice cream with his grandchildren.
On December 14, 2006 Willis became a resident of the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy, where he died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the age of 101.
Willis is survived by his son, Dale (Doris) Scott of Tracy, MN; daughter-in-law, Dolly Scott of Tracy, MN; seven grandchildren, Debra Dale, David (Lori) Scott, Charles Scott, LeAnne (Jim) McMahon, Ronald (April) Scott, Christine (Kevin) Lanners, Susan (Bart) Meyer; twenty four great grandchildren; thirty two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Lester (Gladys) Scott of WA; nieces, nephews, and friends.
His wife, Gladys, his parents, son, Donald, grandson Robert, granddaughter, Loretta Utsler, one brother, Walter, and four sisters, Edna Gannot, Helen Parcels, Hazel Faundeen and Gladys Johnson preceded him in death.
