Yvonne Pihl

Yvonne Josephine (Verlinde) Pihl was born on September 17, 1922, in Tracy, to Jerry and Marie Verlinde. On June 26, 1943, she was married to Loren Pihl at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. Yvonne (known by all her nieces and nephews as Aunt Jeanie) and Loren farmed near Tracy until moving to the Marshall area in 1951 where they farmed until retirement. Yvonne was a member of the Marshall Tops Club for more than 35 years and was known by many as “the Sunshine Lady.” She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy and later Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall and the Catholic Daughters’ Assn. Yvonne was passionate about many things, but at the top of her list were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, flowers and spent many years dancing. Yvonne died on Tuesday, December 09, 2008, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota. She is survived by her daughter, Lori (and Val) Eberspacher of Marshall, son Loren Jr. (and Jo) Pihl of Gary, SD, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
